Whose Script Are You Living?

There is a grand narrative about a God who liberates, a God who saves, and a God who is calling people to co-author a future where heaven comes crashing into earth. This reality begs the question of us all, "Whose script are you living?" Our hope is to inspire people to look deep within themselves and discover how they can bring heaven to earth as they partner with a God of restoration and beauty.

WHOSE SCRIPT ARE YOU LIVING?

There are questions in life that ultimately define us.

We might ask these of ourselves:
  • Who am I?
  • What am I doing with my life?
We might have them asked to us:
  • Will you marry me?
  • Should we start a family?
We might read about them in the Bible:
  • Who do you say that I am?
  • Who is my neighbor?
These types of questions don't just elicit a pithy response, but more often they cause us to ponder life, meaning, and the future.  We delve deep into our identity and character to decide how to answer such questions.  And more often than not, the answers don't come in an elegantly written personal manifesto or an efficient mission statement; but the answers come in the actions that truly define our lives.

In a similar way, we believe that the question Whose script are you living? can cause introspection.  We believe that outside of asking Who do you say that Jesus is?, this might be the most important question that a person can ask.  And here is why:

The Gospel of Jesus Christ isn't simply about acquiring fire insurance for a life that exists after death, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ begs us to live fully in this life, building a Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

In the next four entries we're going to break down the question Whose script are you living? by looking at it from four different angles: theologically, narratively, personally, and actively.
